Here are the top genius mom hacks you need to know:
1. THIS SMART WAY TO HANG BABY CLOTHES
Skip the hassle of buying mini hangers and save yourself the money by using what you already have. It’s easy! Hang your onesies upside down on a clothes hanger and clasp the metal buttons together. Fit 3 outfits in a row for a super organized closet. Bonus: no wrinkles!
2. ADD GLOW STICKS TO YOUR BATHTUB FOR A FUN BEDTIME IDEA
Some days, we’re all counting down the minutes until bedtime. Add glow sticks to your kid’s bath when you need a moment of peace, a little less fighting or you just want to be the “Cool Mom.”
3. USE A BOBBY PIN TO GET EVERY LAST DROP OUT OF YOUR TOOTHPASTE
Don’t waste a drop of toothpaste ever again by placing a bobby pin on the top of the tube. As you push paste out, slide the bobby pin down to ensure nothing gets left behind. Who doesn’t have a spare bobby pin kicking around anyways?
4. MAKE ANY TOY NOISE PROOF WITH TAPE
It blows my mind that some toys don’t come with a volume option! There’s a quick fix for that. Find tape (I usually use clear so it’s less noticeable but green is all I had) and save your sanity by placing it over the speaker.
Now you don’t have to use the line “oh shoot, we ran out of batteries again.” #guilty
5. A BRILLIANT WAY TO ENTERTAIN YOUR TODDLER AT THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE
Keeping a toddler entertained can be tricky, let alone at the Doctor’s office. Throw some felt pens in your bag before you leave and let them color on the bed while you wait.
I recommend these Crayola Washables (just to be safe and protect the walls).
6. NEVER LOSE A BIB AGAIN BY HANGING THEM BEHIND YOUR HIGH CHAIR
If your household is anything like ours, bibs disappear quickly.
Use a command hook and stick it to the back of your high chair so you can hang your bibs. Easy organization and you’ll never lose them.
7. USE STICKERS TO HELP TODDLERS PUT THEIR SHOES ON THE CORRECT FEET
Help toddlers gain their independence by placing a happy face sticker on the inside of their shoes. They just have to line up the smile to know what shoe goes on which foot.
This is especially helpful for kids in daycare/pre-school that have to do it on their own at a young age.
8. GET KIDS TO EAT ALL THEIR DINNER WITH THE TRICERA-TACO HOLDER
9. USE AN EGG CARTON TO HOLD PAINT
Repurpose an old egg carton to make a mess-free paint holder. We love using Crayola Washable Project Paint because it’s water-soluble and easy to clean up.
Bonus: you can poke holes in the peaks of the carton and use them to hold spare paintbrushes.
10. TURN YOUR ONESIE BACKWARDS TO AVOID TODDLERS TAKING OFF THEIR OWN DIAPER
There comes a time when all babies become clever and realize they can undo their own onesies, and then dun dun dunnnn, their diaper (ugh)!
Out-smart them by putting in on backwards. It will relieve you of a lot of shitty situations (pun intended).
11. DON’T BUY ONESIES WITH BUTTONS (EVER)
BUY ZIPPERS ONLY!
On the topic of onesies, save yourself the hassle of buttons. There’s nothing worse than fighting to button them up when your baby is squirming or in the middle of the night.
If you take any piece of advice from this list, this is the one you’ll thank me for.
12. DIY SMOOTHIE BOTTLE
Have an old bottle laying around? Cut open the top of the nipple with scissors and you have the perfect mess-free bottle for smoothies.
Kids love it and once again, way less mess!
